Sugar Free Protein Pumpkin Pie

Sugar Free Protein Pumpkin Pie

'Tis the season for the best eats of the year. I don't know about you guys, but I think Thanksgiving has to be my favorite holiday. I love everything about it. The family. The friends. The food. The football. Those are really everything you need right? Well, my favorite is probably the food and that is why I have spend the last month dialing in the Sugar Free Protein Pumpkin Pie recipe.

Sugar Free Protein Pumpkin Pie

sugar free protein pumpkin pie

It has taken multiple tries, some not so good (well actually still pretty tasty, but not perfect) pies, and I finally came up with what I think to be the BEST protein pumpkin pie recipe on the planet. I am serious. This is about as close as humanly possible that you can get to an unhealthy, high calorie pumpkin pie.

My mom who has a keen taste for pie said that she literally couldn't tell a difference between this pie and a regular pumpkin pie. So, if that isn't enough to sell you on this recipe, I don't know what is.

Easiest pumpkin pie

That's right. It is super easy to make. One of the parts that take it to the next level of ease and flavor is just using a regular frozen pie crust. You can make a homemade crust, or even try making a healthy crust, but this recipe is already so lower calorie that it just made sense to use a regular pie crust.

To me, one of the best parts about pie is a flaky, buttery crust, so why not just use an awesome pie crust combined with this super delicious protein pumpkin pie filling to get the ultimate protein pumpkin pie?

Ingredients you need

For the most part, all of the ingredients are ones from your standard pumpkin pie recipe just with a few swaps and substitutes to lower the calories and make it sugar free.

Unsweetened, nonfat evaporated milk

This one helps give it that delicious texture you get in a normal pumpkin pie but saves a ton of calories over the normal sweetened condensed milk that other recipes use.

It can be found in the baking aisle in the same section as sweetened condensed milk. I just used Nestle brand that I got on my Amazon fresh order.

Sugar free sweetener

This is where we get the sugar free aspect of this pie. A normal pumpkin pie is loaded with sugar, but not here. This one has the same sweet, creamy, spice flavor of a regular pumpkin pie without any of the sugar.

I used Swerve in this recipe which is an erythritol based sweetener that measures 1:1 with sugar and tastes and bakes like sugar. It can be found in the baking aisle of most grocery stores or on Amazon.

There are also other sugar free sweeteners that you can substitute. Those are fine to use, you just want to make sure that it measures 1:1 with sugar like then one used here.

Whey + casein blend protein powder from Macro1 Nutrition

It wouldn't be a protein pumpkin pie without the protein powder. This is where our #1 baking protein, ONE Protein, comes in. You seriously should get this protein, or if you aren't able to, at a minimum another whey and casein blend protein powder.

They whey and casein blend is super important for the recipe to turn out like this one! Please, please, DO NOT use a whey protein powder. It absorbs liquid differently and won't bake the same.

Low calorie, high protein, sugar free pumpkin pie

Yep, that is right. This recipe ticks all of the above boxes and tastes just as good or better than the unhealthier counterpart. There are only 160 calories in each slice and 10 grams of protein. You can have your pie and eat it too with this one!

Check out the recipe below and enjoy!
